2014/13

The prismatic light of my past (growing up in Southern California in the 70’s) combined with the contemporary digital light that dominates the world today motivates my work. Rapid digital drawings created with my cell phone are later translated into paintings in the studio.

This spontaneous and immediate process of drawing mirrors societal interaction with mobile technology. In my studio, as I translate this ephemeral imagery into a deliberate, precise and slowly-crafted painting I am shifting my practice to employ patience and stillness in a frenetic world.
